Lorries Stuck in Kilometers Long Jams at Slovakia's Border Crossing Points
Slovakia - The number of lorries stuck on the border crossing points to Slovakia is increasing. The problems caused by introductions of new Slovak electronic road toll system.
Not depending on claims made by Slovak National Highway Company and operator of new road-tolling system SkyToll that system launched without problems, big numbers of lorries got stuck in kilometers long jams on Slovak borders from Czech Republic, Hungary and Poland.
On Monday evening, about 150 vehicles were caught up in a traffic jam on the Czech-Slovak border near the village of Mosty u Jablunkova. During the night, the lorries created an eight kilometers long line. According to the Czech police, the jams caused on Slovak side, as the new tolling system is not ready for operation, reported TASR.
On Tuesday, jams reported also on Hungary - Slovakia border point Rajka-Rusovce, where trucks must stay in kilometers long line, waiting during hours for registration into Slovak tolling system. The Hungarian police stated the same as Czech police - the problem is in new Slovak tolling system, that is not ready.
The worst situation was on Monday evening and during the night on Poland - Slovakia border point near Trstena, said SME daily. Drivers staying in line for registration into tolling system were left freezing outdoors in almost twenty degrees below zero.
