Direct Flights to Slovakia are Not Profitable for Airlines
Bratislava, June 10 - Direct flights from Slovakia to many world destinations are not in the offer as yet. It seems that the flights are not profitable for airline companies. The passengers flying to Bratislava and other Slovak cities must use Vienna airport.
For the time being, Slovakia's capital Bratislava has not direct connection even with Brussels, the administrative heart of the European Union.
Slovakian Transport, Posts and Telecommunications Minister Lubomir Vazny said that he discussed direct flights from Bratislava's M.R. Stefanik Airport (BTS) to Brussels with several companies but had no success.
Low-cost airline SkyEurope Airlines spokesman Tomas Kika informed that currently the company isn't considering direct flights from Bratislava to Brussels.
SkyEurope flies seven times a week to Brussels from Vienna, said Kika, adding that Bratislava and Vienna are one catchment area for SkyEurope. "We orient ourselves according to the development of demand, and we know that Slovak passengers use the Brussels-Vienna connection," added Kika.
