Employee Wage in Slovakia Rose Most Quickly in Public Administration and Defence
The Statistical Office of the Slovak Republic published its information report of Employee Wage in Slovakia in the 1st quarter of 2008.
Following the report, in the 1st quarter of 2008, the average monthly nominal wage of employee in economy reached SKK 20 443 and there was a year-on-year rise by 10,4 %. The real wage rose 6,2 %.
The highest level of the average monthly wage continued in financial intermediation (SKK 46 334) and in electricity, gas and water supply (SKK 27 736). The wage was lower than on average of the Slovak economy also in eight branches. The lowest average nominal wage was in hotels and restaurants (SKK 14 158), in other social service activities (SKK 14 961), in construction (SKK 15 378), in agriculture and fishing (SKK 16 725, of which in agriculture SKK 15 722).
Compared to the 1st quarter of 2007, the average nominal monthly wage rose in all branches. It increased relatively most quickly in public administration and defence (by 18,1 %), in health and social assistance (by 16,4 %), in mining and quarrying (by 14,8 %), in real estates and renting (by 11,7 %) and in education (by 11,4 %). The lowest rise in wage was in hotels and restaurants (3,8 %).
The wage really rose in all branches (except hotels and restaurants) after taking development of consumer prices into consideration.
Concerning legal form by subjects, the average monthly nominal wage increased in budgetary organizations by 15,9 % to SKK 19 758, in allowance organizations by 12,2 % to SKK 17 602, in business sphere (enterprises employing 20 people or more) by 9,9 % to SKK 23 272 and in small enterprises employing fewer than 19 people by 8,1 % to SKK 18 481.
