Slovak Analysts View Euro Adoption as Positive But With Certain Risks
Bratislava, May 7 - Some Slovak political analysts praised Slovakia's eurozone entry plans while others remain wary, after the European Commission and European Central Bank (ECB) recommended earlier in the day that Slovakia should be allowed to join the eurozone as of January 1 of next year.
Analysts agree that entry to the eurozone will certainly entail risks, but that is something that has to be accepted.
After joining the European Union and Schengen Zone, this is the third fundamental move as part of Slovakia's integration. The country is completing its integration to become a fully-fledged EU member.
The move, however, may spell problems mainly in terms of the living standards of certain social classes. It's important that this will not lead to frustration, and that the Slovak Government will not interpret such fallout in a populist manner.
