Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of the Slovak Republic Dušan Čaplovič

Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of the Slovak Republic for Knowledge-Based Society, European Affairs, Human Rights and Minorities Dušan Čaplovič was born in Bratislava on 18 September 1946. He graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy of Comenius University in Bratislava in 1969. From 1980 to 2002, he worked as a senior researcher and scientist at the Slovak Academy of Sciences where he also held the post of Scientific Secretary and Deputy Director of the Institute of Archaeology of the Slovak Academy of Sciences in Nitra. From 1992 to 2001, he was a member of the Presidium and, from 1995 to 2001, Deputy President of the Slovak Academy of Sciences in Bratislava. From 2002 to 2006 he was a member of the National Council of the Slovak Republic.
During his professional career, Mr. Čaplovič was a member of the Council of the Government of the Slovak Republic for Science and Technology from 1992 to 1995 and a member of the Advisory Board of the Minister of Culture of the Slovak Republic from 1995 to 1998. As a researcher he spent some time on several study stays in the USA and Finland.
